Great stuff as always John. Have a great holiday and enjoy the downtime. A wise man once told me that your family is your true wealth so I hope you do get some quality time together.
Kieran, music is a healthy outlet. The Clash played one of their first American shows in Cleveland in the late 70’s, I had to look that up. But I did see them my senior year of high school in 1984 at Cleveland Public Hall and it was amazing!
Tears for Fears an excellent, underrated band probably because of the synthesized 80’s.
John, Truly appreciate your thorough and insightful overview of the After Actions, capturing the key points with clarity. The speed and accuracy in which you and your team works is always impressive. Another Bravo...
Trump is giving a speech at the moment, reiterating your words, amazing.
Safe and wonderful travel wishes for you and the family.
Dianne, I’m not sure my reply made it through so pardon if this is a duplicate. As ever, thanks so much for your stalwart and ever-present support. Yes, what a way to finally go off on a holiday; on such an analytical high. I’ll send a couple of submarine substacks from the road, in honour of our early pirate radio days!
John,I know we will all enjoy the submarine discussions, as you can ping out... not sure how subs transmit? maybe Kieran will correct or challenge me:) John, enjoy the long overdue holiday, focus on your family for the most part... we know you will be back.
Thanks so much Dianne; yes, its a great way to leave with the family, on such an analytical high. We will send along a few submarine substacks from the road, in honour of our pirate radio early days. Speak soon and thanks as ever, John
John, continue to ride this wave, and well deserved analytical high. When you return I am curious as to what the "New Iran" will look like. Possibly influence from Turkey, Azerbaijan as well as other in the region, just newer and possibly more youthful thinking to what most likely will be a continuation of the current regime.

I vote The Clash
There are plenty of contenders for this week’s jam (this is not to trivialise war or suffering, but to acknowledge where lyrics touch reality).
The Clash may have said it best:
“If I stay there will be trouble, if I go it will be double.” Though in this case, the reverse may feel closer to the truth.
But I reckon the honour goes to Tears for Fears, in Everybody Wants to Rule the World, for this apt line, a fitting echo of Midnight Hammer:
“There’s a room where the light won’t find you, holding hands while the walls come tumbling down.”
Also, could someone hand Rutte a wet wipe for his nose?
Have a great weekend, all.
Kieran, I like The Clash, just me... and going forward it is what is needed.
Its a great track! Yes, I think staying out of it and being the balancing power of last resort is the way to go.
Agree Kieran, me too. Excellent music selection... and, bravo to you!!!
Rock The Casbah my friend!
Great tune that Terri and very topical too!

I read some of her comments this week, and I have to say I agreed with her. I will listen to this Erik!
