Yes, Lady MacBeth is the worst of the whole unscrupulous lot of them; she saw everything, knew precisely what she was doing, and put petty power above her husband, and the American Republic. Beyond odious personally and patriotically
Yes, I just about managed to restrain myself; one ought to practice what one preaches. I quite agree, the worst punishment for Biden is that of history, which the best possible outcome would lead him to have to hear. To be King Lear is a fearsome punishment
The willful act of concealing health transparency about Biden by his family, senior and medical staff has severe ethical consequences, and undermines democratic integrity, and the fostering distrust eroding accountability and long term cynicism.
Their "Actions" reflect a callous disregard for the democratic principals that citizens deserve about their leaders capacity to serve.
The "Soulless, self serving individuals" involved in the deceptive concealment are Ruthless, Morally Bankrupt.
The heartless concealment of Biden's health reveals a chilling void of empathy, sacrificing trust for political gain, ...yes,this betrayal leaves me searching, grabbling with profound disbelief at the disrespect for truth and duty.
I entirely agree, Dianne. I knew they were time-servers, not nearly interested enough in the fate of the country and far too interested in themselves. But this goes fathoms beyond that simple (if damning) statement. This means there is nothing but themselves; and they betrayed everything. The man, the office, and most of all the country. This is why the Greeks invented ostracism!
I believed this truth would come to the surface at some point, I am at this time sickened at of the depth, and not just mental decline, cancer that could have been treated..How some individuals, live with their moral corruption.. and premeditations I do not know.
They say Trump is the devil, they are the only salvation of the country (ie they know better than the rest of us) and the rest flows from this. Every nefarious act, every deception is necessary for the ‘greater good.’
In other words they are utterly morally lost, rationalising away the world to suit their narcissism.
It is fiction, of course, but still interesting how the president trying to cover up and downplay his condition was portrayed. I suppose Toby would have considered the entire Biden presidency a coup d’état - and would he have been wrong?
It’s fiction, but the pace of DC, the lives of the staffers, and the mix of high idealism and low cunning are uniquely DC and entirely, perfectly done. I love it
John, you've previously mentioned the beauty of the American governance system is that it doesn't necessarily produce outstanding presidents but it does stop the less than stellar candidates from doing too much harm to the Republic. Given that the Bidens and those surrounding them didn't show restraint, how would you fix this? After all the last major change was after '68 when party managers used to pick the candidate(s?) behind the scenes and present them to the public. Regards
Hi Misbah, Pardon the brevity of this, but its been a crazy day ad I wanted to write, if only fleetingly. Yes, I think what I said is so; the reason we’ve had one republic (and the French say, 5) is that the system stops bad apples from doing too much harm. There is definitely a systemic failure here. A failure of family (Lady MacBeth), aides, party leaders, and the press to stop things. Yes, 68-72 was the last time there was rightfully systemic change in the primary system. I think here the failure was that they Dems strayed from 68-72, they anointed Harris, just as they spectacularly incurious about Biden; too little vetting, too little democracy in both cases (an open primary as Obama mentioned would have been better). More scrutiny, more of the people having a say, a return to 68-72 is what they need, not a new version of the ‘smoke filled room.’ Thats my Jeffersonian policy advice, anyway. Thanks for the great question and the deep thinking.
Thanks John. I like that you fall back on the tried and tested system in place. Mind you the Democrats need to rid themselves of the super delegate voting rights.
Yes, the super delegates are the modern day version of the smoke filled room (Sanders is entirely right about this); it needs to go immediately. But yes, overall I’ll stick with the system devised by Hamilton. I’ll take the Federalist Papers any day!
I feel like the goals of both parties are the same, it’s the path to get there that is fundamentally different. Small government versus big government, etc
Like I said before, it’s elder abuse at the highest level…

Enabled by his own vanity.
He wasn't all that fit in 2016.
Yes, the ruthless Obama saw this clearly; but (in a Shakespearean sense) Biden couldn’t let it go
Glad you managed to catch the “fff” with Jill! A terrible disease, wishing him the best possible outcome.

Hatred is a fire that only burns the one who holds it.
That’s a good one Kieran!
No doubt, the man is dying. News is released in managed stages. Now stage 4, tomorrow terminal.

You are correct
Wasn’t there a ‘West Wing’ plot line where the president lied about having MS?
Why, yes there was: https://youtu.be/CQoGfOBTx6E
My absolute favorite show
