Yes, if he outright 'wins' the war, he would be immeasurably politically bolstered and might survive the huge failure of last October. Short of this (as in 1973) and he's done

Actually, less than you'd think (hence their better record). They are the regional experts, not Langley and intell (in this Lawrencium fashion) tends to work this way

Agree about the territory Erik; I'd say their sing with the weaker of the two Muslim blocs (the Sunni, led by Saudi) over the revolutionary Shia block (led by Iran), which wants to overrun the very favourable balance of power (for Israel) in the region, makes perfect realist sense.

The overriding strategy of Israel is: split the Muslims.

This, of course, requires a lot of theatre and picking on (ultimately irrelevant) particular differences which have to be magnified and played up.

In the meantime, acquire territory (for good).
